Visit Quad Cities pursues NCAA Division I Golf Championships
November 09, 2023
Visit Quad Cities is pursuing the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship and NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship for 2027 and 2028.
Dave Herrell, President and CEO of Visit Quad Cities, shared the plans and strategy behind the pursuit at the organization's annual event, Destination QC!
“Our team really knows how to prepare bid proposals. We also understand the national landscape within sports,” said Herrell. “We wanted to demonstrate that the Quad Cities is here to stay, and we want you to know us. I think we delivered that message, and now it’s about doing the work and getting it done.”
This process requires our Sports QC team, venues, and collegiate partners to work together to submit a bid that is due in February 2024. A video element will be submitted as part of our proposal. Attendees from Destination QC! shared personal insights on our destination and sports facility offerings as well as support and love for competition that can be felt around the Quad Cities. These first-hand accounts will help showcase the Quad Cities' assets and abilities in hosting prestigious events.
The goal is to have these championships hosted at TPC Deere Run, a PGA TOUR owned and operated facility that sits on bluffs atop the Mississippi River. Host of the annual John Deere Classic, this course is top-notch and award winning and has been ranked second in the state of Illinois by GolfWeek.
Final decisions for the 2027-2028 Championships will be announced in October 2024.
